Canobie Dental offers minimal and oral sedation for appropriate patients who are nervous about dental treatment, have had difficult dental experiences in the past, or are having a longer procedure.
What does oral sedation feel like?
Sedation medicine can help you feel calmer, more relaxed, and sometimes sleepy during treatment.
You are not placed under general anesthesia.
With minimal or oral sedation, you remain able to respond to us during your appointment.
Local anesthetic is still used when needed to numb the area being treated.

Before your sedation appointment
We will give you specific instructions before your visit.

If you are taking a sedative before treatment, you will need someone to drive you to and from the office.
Do not drink alcohol or use recreational drugs before a sedation appointment.

During your appointment
We monitor you throughout treatment and make sure you are responding appropriately.
You may feel very relaxed or sleepy.

Your driver should take you home after treatment.
Plan to rest while the medication wears off.
Do not drive, operate machinery, drink alcohol, or make important decisions until you have recovered and followed the instructions provided to you.
