About Langdon
Langdon is a small rural community in southwestern Sullivan County with several pieces of local history that have survived for generations.
The town was first settled in 1773 and incorporated in 1787, taking its name from New Hampshire Governor John Langdon.
The Langdon Meeting House, completed in 1803, remains one of the community's defining buildings. Generations of residents have gathered there for annual Town Meeting.
Langdon is also home to the Prentiss Bridge, a small covered bridge spanning Great Brook. Built in the 1870s, it is recognized as the shortest covered bridge in New Hampshire.
Route 12A runs through the town, while farms, forests, older homes, and rural roads make up much of the surrounding landscape.
The historic meeting house, covered bridge, and small scale of the community give Langdon a character that is noticeably different from the larger towns and cities elsewhere in the Connecticut River Valley.
