Dartmouth, the Upper Valley & students interested in dentistry

Hanover is one of New Hampshire's most concentrated centers of higher education, medicine, research, and professional training.

Dartmouth College has been part of the community since 1769. Its Geisel School of Medicine, founded in 1797, is one of the nation's oldest medical schools and supports medical, biomedical-science, public-health, and health-services education.

The academic and medical communities extend directly into neighboring Lebanon, where Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center serves as a principal clinical teaching site for Geisel. Medical students train alongside residents, fellows, physicians, researchers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals throughout the Dartmouth Health system.

Canobie Dental welcomes Dartmouth students, faculty, staff, medical professionals, researchers, and their families who are looking for dental care in the broader Upper Valley region.

Canobie Dental also welcomes students and interns who are interested in exploring a career in dentistry.

College students, pre-dental students, high-school students considering healthcare careers, and others interested in learning about dentistry may contact us about available educational, observation, or internship opportunities.

Our goal is to give interested students a realistic view of modern general dentistry, patient care, dental technology, practice operations, and the different career paths available within a dental office.

Availability and the type of experience offered will depend on the student's background, the practice schedule, and applicable patient-privacy and safety requirements.

About Hanover

Hanover sits along the Connecticut River in the Upper Valley and was chartered in 1761.

The town is inseparable from Dartmouth College, founded in 1769. The college campus, Dartmouth Green, Main Street, libraries, academic buildings, and surrounding downtown form the most recognizable center of the community.

The presence of Dartmouth and the Geisel School of Medicine has also made Hanover part of a larger academic and medical community extending into nearby Lebanon and across the Connecticut River into Vermont.

Hanover is unusual in another way: the Appalachian Trail runs directly through downtown and along Main Street, bringing one of the country's best-known long-distance trails directly into the college-town center.

Beyond downtown, Hanover includes Etna, historically known as Mill Village because Mink Brook powered several mills there.

Dartmouth, Geisel, the Green, the Connecticut River, Appalachian Trail, and Hanover's surrounding rural village areas give the town an identity unlike any other community in Canobie Dental's New Hampshire service area.
