Croydon is a small, rural Sullivan County town immediately north of Newport.
Route 10 runs through the center of town and provides the direct connection south to Newport and north toward Grantham.
Croydon's current master plan identifies Croydon Flat and East Village as its two village areas, while much of the rest of town remains rural and heavily forested.
One piece of local history is preserved at the Samuel Morse House Museum, a house dating to around 1790 that now holds Croydon photographs, maps, family records, period furnishings, and other pieces of the town's history.
