About Cornish
Cornish sits along the Connecticut River and has one of the richest arts histories of any small town in New Hampshire.
Sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens began spending summers in Cornish in 1885. His presence helped attract painters, sculptors, writers, architects, and other creative figures who became known collectively as the Cornish Colony.
Today, his home, studios, gardens, and artwork are preserved at Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park.
Cornish is also connected to Windsor, Vermont by the Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge, an 1866 wooden bridge across the Connecticut River and one of the best-known covered bridges in New England.
The town itself is made up of several small village and neighborhood areas rather than one large center, including Cornish Flat, Cornish City, Cornish Center, Cornish Mills, and South Cornish.
