How dental insurance and in-network participation work

Participation is not a coverage guarantee

When Canobie Dental participates with a dental plan, that status can affect how the plan processes eligible services. It does not mean that every service is covered or that the patient owes nothing.

Common plan terms

A deductible is an amount the patient may need to pay before certain benefits apply. An annual maximum is the most a plan may pay during its benefit period. Waiting periods can delay eligibility for some categories, and exclusions identify care the policy does not cover.

These are general explanations. The language in the individual plan controls.

Patient responsibility varies

Eligibility, plan limits, service category, date of service, and the final claim decision can all affect patient responsibility. Another patient’s result is not evidence of what a different policy will pay.
